THE NEIGHBORHOOD: A quiet and family-friendly place, Pântano do Sul is the largest and most traditional fishing beach in Santa Catarina, with rich fishing communities. In the region, mullet fishing is still carried out with trawlers during the harvest season.
THE BEACH: As it is a large beach, approximately 3km long, with a strip of sand that varies from 5 to 100 meters wide, it has distinct characteristics at various points.
In the northeast, Morro do Pântano, known as Morro do Cementerio, forms a cove that protects this part of the beach from the wind. In this area, the sea is calm and gradually deepens. The waves die down gently along the beach. It is more recommended for those looking for a calm swim in the sea, with children or the elderly. In the southwest part of the beach, which opens up to the ocean, the water becomes more agitated and is ideal for surfing.
